"Repeats Seem To Be A Theme Here: Another Guide Hachette Star For Our Rosé!"
Our 2018 AOP Languedoc Chateau La Deveze Monnier Rosé continues to shine, winning a Star in the Guide Hachette des Vins for two years in a row (2020 and 2021)!
This 2018 wine was made with Syrah and Grenache which lend power and perfume, respectively, to this rosé gastronomique. Its cheerful soft pink colour promises what the nose of intense strawberry and cream aromas delivers. On the palate it is still full and fresh with flavours of cherries and crème brûlée. Tamlyn Currin of JancisRobinson.com likes its complexity, saying, "the strawberry-jelly roundness is flecked with dried thyme, sage leaf, tomato vine and a lick of iron." This is a substantial rosé that is better now than when it was first released.
As with all of Terre des 2 Sources Château de la Devèze Monnier wines, it's happiest when paired with food - we suggest trying it with veal cordon bleu and roasted root vegetables, paella or risotto, but be sure to try something on your own!!

"2018 Château De La Devèze Monnier Blanc Again Featured In 'Le Point' Magazine"
In the September 3rd Le Point Magazine's special report on wines, our 2018 Château de la Devèze Monnier Blanc (AOP Languedoc) was featured again, for the second year in a row!
White wines still have a special place in our hearts and minds, especially because our little corner of the world is well suited to making elegant wines that can age gracefully. This 2018 wine is still fresh and engaging due to its blend of Roussanne, Ugni blanc, Vermentino and Viognier and about one-fifth of the wine being aged in old oak barrels. We're looking forward to pulling out bottles for another few years to see how it evolves!

"Harvest Chat Between Jeff Harding And Kirsten Creasy"
Jeff Harding has made a name for himself with Vineyard Chats on Instagram after the lockdowns started in March, with our Viticulturist Dr Glen Creasy being one of those interviewed (see below for a story on that). He then segued into Harvest Chats, including one with our winemaker Kirsten Creasy.
While standing next to a bin of fermenting Cabernet Sauvignon, Kirsten and Jeff talk about the harvest up to that point, small-batch winemaking, how she and Glen work together to determine when to harvest the fruit, what winemakers do after vintage and a number of other things wine geeks, in particular, will appreciate!

"Instagram Interview With Our Viticulturist, Glen Creasy"
Our viticulturist, Dr Glen Creasy, was interviewed by US-based sommelier Jeff Harding on Instagram last week, and more than just learning about his background and how he ended up in France, there was also discussion around why Riesling is more tolerant of winter-time cold temperatures and why grapes make such a nice wine compared to other fruits. The discussion also turned to AOP Terrasses du Larzac, why younger winemakers tend to make a different, non-traditional, styles of wine and the red grape called Aramon, which used to be a major part of the area in the Languedoc, but fell out of favour about 70 years ago...

"Making A Point"
On September 6th, Le Point Magazine published a special report on Languedoc wines, choosing to include our Château de la Devèze Monnier Blanc 2018 (AOP Languedoc).
White wines have a special place in our hearts, and here in our little valley. Our higher elevation, in combination with weather influenced by the Cévennes mountains, means our vines and their fruit spend the nights being a little colder, which helps to retain acidity, which is an important part of being able to create elegant and balanced wines.
Utilising four (Roussanne, Ugni blanc, Vermentino and Viognier) varieties from different parcels and by putting about 20% of the blend in old oak barrels, Kirsten, our winemaker, was able to create a wine of interest and distinction.
Le Point's tasting notes describe the wine as having a nose slightly candied and with yellow peach, citrusy and lemon notes, and a smooth, fine round and harmonious palate with a spicy finish.
As with most of our other wines, the best this wine has to offer can be discovered by judicious food pairing. We suggest matching it with creamy fish-based dishes or a dessert!

"A Star Is Born!
We are very proud that our 2018 AOP Languedoc Chateau La Deveze Monnier Rosé has won a Star in the 2020 Guide Hachette des Vins!
Not your typical rosé, as noted by the judges: "A rosé off the beaten track, generous, balanced, which fully assumes its colour and its roundness." (translated quote)
The wine follows in the footsteps of it's 2017 sister, which received a mention in the Guide, but in 2018 the wine was made with Syrah and Grenache, and with slightly different methods, leading to its prominent and cheerful soft pink colour and perfectly matched nose of intense strawberry and cream aromas. This is followed by a mouthfeel that is full and fresh with flavours of cherries and crème brûlée.
As with all of Terre des 2 Sources Château de la Devèze Monnier wines, it's happiest when paired with food - we suggest trying it with veal cordon bleu and roasted root vegetables, paella or risotto, but be sure to try something on your own!
